Company History

Private Home Health Care was founded in 1994 by Registered Nurse Mary Demakes in Salem, MA.  Mary’s considerable experience expands over a 20 year period, beginning with working as a Pediatric Critical Care Nurse, then as a Private Duty Medical and Surgical Nurse and an American Heart Association Instructor, followed by becoming President of Private Home Health Care, and a Geriatric Care Manager.  She obtained her B.S.N. Degree from Southern Connecticut State College, studied at St. Raphael’s School of Nursing and did a her Pediatric Specialty at Yale University and Yale New Haven Hospital.

Her extensive work experience began at Yale New Haven Hospital, and continued to Boston Children’s Hospital for Pediatric Care.  She obtained additional experience at Mass General Hospital as a Private Duty Medical and Surgical Care Nurse. Her considerable experience with large organizations lead Mary to start her own specialized private care agency for seniors and others in need of healthcare services.

Mary also provides lectures and training on several topics including: Alzheimer’s Disease Signs and Symptoms, Senior Care Planning, Health and Nutrition and Prevent of Disease, Crisis Management, among others.

The company has been at the Marblehead location since 2001.  Recent  expansion efforts include servicing Greater Boston,  Metro West and the complete North Shore with new offices in the Burlington and Lexington.   Our goal is to continue to grow and to be one of the premier Home Health Care agencies in Massachusetts.

Today, the agency has over 50 care providers who serve the Greater Boston, Metro West and North Shore areas of Massachusetts. Our services have enhanced the lives of countless seniors and their loved ones for over two decades.
